Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has a new theory: Israel is apparently making Palestinians evaporate.
Speaking in a February 13, 2026 interview with fellow professional Israel critic Owen Shroyer, Greene solemnly warned that Israel is using weapons that “vaporized people” in Gaza. She then doubled down on X, retweeting the George Soros–funded outlet Drop Site News, which assured her this was all very real and very illegal.
“These are horrific war crimes,” Greene declared. “Crimes against humanity.”
The Source of the Allegation
The entire allegation comes from a single source: Al Jazeera, which in turn was faithfully relaying claims from Hamas. Hamas, the Qatari news network said, conducted a rigorous forensic investigation and concluded that Israel had “vaporized” 2,842 Palestinians using “internationally prohibited” thermobaric weapons generating temperatures over 6,330 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Method
How did Hamas determine this?
Simple. They counted how many people someone said were inside a building, looked for bodies afterward, and if they came up short, declared the missing humans evaporated.
According to Hamas—and now, apparently, Greene—Israel is achieving this miracle using U.S.-made bombs like the MK-84, the BLU-109 bunker buster, and the GBU-39. These weapons, we are told, are specially designed to leave buildings standing while transforming everyone inside into steam.
That would be remarkable, if any of it were true.
The Weapons Are Not Thermobaric
In reality, none of those weapons are thermobaric. They are conventional high-explosive or penetrator munitions that collapse structures through blast force. Thermobaric weapons work differently—and even they don’t make human beings vanish into the ether. They kill through overpressure and oxygen depletion, not Hogwarts-level disintegration spells.
Thermobaric Weapons Are Not “Prohibited”
As for the claim that thermobaric weapons are “internationally prohibited,” that’s another fantasy. The United States has openly used thermobaric or air-blast weapons in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. In 2017, the U.S. dropped the GBU-43/B MOAB—the literal “Mother of All Bombs”—on ISIS tunnels. No one accused America of “evaporating” people. Greene certainly didn’t.
Thermobaric Weapons Are Not Magic
Hamas’s claim violates basic physics. Even massive explosions do not cause human bodies to disappear. Matter does not simply cease to exist. If thousands of people truly “evaporated,” someone would need to explain where the atoms went, how they escaped enclosed spaces, and why they didn’t reappear as residue anywhere nearby.
Hamas offers no such explanation. It simply leaps from “we didn’t find the bodies” to “Israel turned them into mist,” and Greene applauds from the cheap seats.
Hamas Used Thermobaric Weapons—With No Outrage From MTG
Notably, Greene had nothing to say when Hamas itself used thermobaric-style weapons during the October 7, 2023 massacre of 1,200 Israeli civilians. Forensic investigations documented thermobaric weapons, homes incinerated, cars torched, bodies burned to skeletal remains, and injuries consistent with thermobaric blasts. That evidence never made it onto Greene’s X feed. No outrage about “crimes against humanity.”
Apparently, mass incineration only matters when Hamas isn’t doing it—and when Al Jazeera is there to narrate.
Instead, Greene has chosen to launder one of the most absurd propaganda claims imaginable: that Israel is secretly erasing people from existence because Hamas’s body count didn’t add up. “Evaporation” isn’t even a real forensic or military term. It’s a cartoon word for a cartoon allegation.
Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t uncover a war crime. She uncovered her own willingness to believe anything, as long as it comes from Hamas and points at Israel.
